Clinical case
A 63-year-old male patient with a history of hypertension and smoking. An anomalous mass in his right kidney was discovered after a CT scan.
Surgical plan and results in operating room
The biomodel was printed with FDM technology (filament) in PLA material and in multiple colours to allow easy differentiation of each of the anatomical structures: vein, artery, calices and tumour.
The surgical plan to follow was a laparoscopic right partial nephrectomy, designed step by step with the 3D model, optimising the tissue to be resected. In laparoscopic surgeries, where the field of vision is reduced, the 3D model plays a fundamental role to achieve a complete knowledge of what the surgeon will find at the time of surgery.

Detailed planning allowed to decrease the ischaemia time and total surgery time resulting in a procedure of only 90 min. In addition, the biomodel was taken to surgery to be used as a guide during the surgical procedure.
